About Us

WHEN & WHERE
We play throughout the year with our club night on Mondays between 8-10pm, with 3 courts available. With our Match nights on Thursdays.
We are based in Hemel Hempstead, at Lockers Park School.

WINTER & SUMMER CLUBS
The year is divided into a competitive Winter club running from September through to April, and an "open" Summer club running from May to August.
The Summer club is useful for non-members looking to join a club and assess their level of ability in a relaxed environment. It is also open to members from other clubs who may wish to play with a different "crowd".

FACILITIES
We play with feathered shuttles, and the latest sports hall facilities since the refurbishment during Summer 1999, with new lighting, dark green painted walls and green rubber composite flooring with white lines.
Full changing facilities available, and off-road parking on the school grounds.

COACHING
We are delighted to have Liz Bateman our own Level 2 coach at the club, as well as several Level 1 coaches. Occasionally, we arrange formal coaching during the summer season depending upon demand.

MEMBERSHIP & TEAMS
We have around 34 members of all ages, with a wide range of experience.
We currently field teams in the South West Herts leagues comprising of; Men's 6, Men's 4, Lady's 6 and 2 Mixed teams, and also have a mixed team in the St Albans league.
Having this number of teams hopefully allows most members to have the opportunity to play in one or more teams for some if not all the matches.

CLUB ETHOS
Our club "Ethos" is to balance ability with enthusiasm and competitiveness, and to combine this with a friendly, fun and sociable atmosphere.
We are definitely not "clicky", stuffy, or too formal, and warmly welcome new members.

SOCIAL
There is also a strong social aspect to the club with optional social activities run throughout the year including a Xmas club meal, go-karting, family rounders, pool, meals out and typically individual end of season team events.

FEES
Membership for the Winter club is £85 for adults and £42.50 for students and juniors. We also offer a members summer club fee of £40 which covers May-August.
Visitors fees are £5 per session, £2.50 students and juniors.
The club fees include insurance to cover members during play, and individuals can optionally become members of Badminton England, which the club is affiliated with.

COMPETITIONS
Just to spice things up a little during the year, we also hold an annual post-Xmas competition with trophies and medals.
We also occasionally get involved in supporting badminton competitions at the local sports centres.
